PROJECTS

Vasant Vihar Tree Census

I conceived, designed and conducted a street tree census for the neighborhood of Vasant Vihar, New Delhi along with a friend. I mobilized school children, working professionals, and the retired elderly in making a census report of 6000 street trees. The report was shared with residents and policymakers, and is currently being used to formulate a tree protection and preservation policy for the neighborhood.

Urban Taru

This is my PhD project, where I am studying the ecological and socio-cultural interactions of urban trees with wildlife and people in the city of New Delhi, India. Alongside, I am also creating awareness about the significance and benefits of trees and urban wildlife in our rapidly expanding cities. I envisage that the findings of this study will have significant management implications by informing tree plantation programs in Delhi (and other Indian cities) to better manage, conserve and enhance urban biodiversity.
